PADUCAH, Ky. — At the second event of their season, the Loyola Chicago women's golf team finished in a tie for ninth place at The Velvet Classic.

With only four available players this tournament, the Ramblers ended with a final score of 70-over-par (+18, +28, +24), which landed them in a tie for ninth place with Southern Illinois in the 14-team event. West Florida took home the team title in a playoff with a final score of 18-over-par, while West Florida's Mariana Arronte claimed the individual title with a score of two-under-par. 

"We played a little short-handed this week due to injuries and illness," said head coach Brandy Johnston. "I'm proud of the way the players showed up and played under tough circumstances. They battled every round which is exactly what you hope for as a coach. I'm excited to see what this group can do when we are back to full strength."

Once again, the Ramblers were led by junior Grace Hui, who finished in a tie for 29th place with a score of +15 (+2, +10, +3). Hui recorded a team-high five birdies over the course of the tournament, and her two-over-par, 74-stroke round one performance was tied for the team's best round of the week alongside sophomore Robbin Zetrouer's first round. Zetrouer ended The Velvet Classic one stroke behind Hui to finish in a tie for 35th with a score of +16 (+2,+9,+5). In addition, sophomore Maureen O'Leary ended with a score of +18 (+8, +5, +5) to land in 38th place, while junior Madison Haugen finished in a tie for 47th with a score of +21 (+6, +4, +11).

The team returns to action in two weeks when they head to Manhattan, Kansas for the Powercat Classic, hosted by Kansas State, Sept. 28-29.
