Men's Soccer Opens A10 Play at Fordham

CHICAGO - Loyola Chicago opens Atlantic 10 play this weekend at Fordham on Saturday. The Ramblers and Rams kick off at 1 p.m. CT. Both teams are looking to rebound off a loss from last week's action.

QUICK KICKS
• The Ramblers dropped their first match of the season last weekend at UIC, 1-0. The Flames buried the goal in the second minute of action, and Loyola couldn't find the back of the net on its 15 shot attempts.
• Before the loss, Loyola was off to the best start (5-0-2) since the 2016 season when the Ramblers went 7-0-0 that year.
• The streak stayed alive with an 89th minute goal from Arved von Vegesack to steal a 1-0 win over SIUE Thursday night at Loyola Soccer Park. It marked Vegesack's second goal and game winner of the year.
Mateusz Drazek assisted on the game winner with a ball up the middle to Vegesack who beat two defenders to get the goal. It was Drazek's third assist of the season.
• Loyola started last week with a 1-0 win over Gonzaga to wrap up the Jesuit Invitational in Omaha. Luka Ivancic's penalty kick goal in the 84th minute sealed the win for the Ramblers.
Maxwell Ionita earned the A10 Defensive Player of the Week award for his 2-1-0 effort between the posts. He posted two shutout wins, 19 saves, and a .33 goals against average over the three matches. Ionita made a season-high eight saves against the Zags.
• Drazek took home Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors last week following the Santa Clara match where he had one goal and assisted on the game winner. It's the second time he's received the award this season.
• Head coach Kevin Robson is in his first year at the helm. He was named the fifth head coach in program history in December 2025.

SCOUTING FORDHAM
• The Rams enter A10 play at 2-4-1 overall with wins over Bucknell and Lafayette. They dropped their last two matches to Columbia and St. John's.
• Four players have scored for the Rams, including Marco Cantalapiedra and Sam Delgado. Both Cantalapiedra and Delgado lead Fordham with three points with a goal and assist each.
• In goal, Shayon Kashi has started six of the seven matches and holds a 2-4-0 record. He's allowed six goals on 62 shots faced. Kashi has 19 saves with a .760 save percentage.
• Fordham was tabbed fourth in the A10 Preseason Poll after posting an 8-6-4 overall record and 5-1-2 finish in conference play last season.

SERIES HISTORY
