Ivancic Penalty Kick Wins Over Gonzaga

OMAHA, Neb. – A late penalty kick by Luka Ivancic sealed a 1-0 shutout win for Loyola Chicago over Gonzaga to wrap up the Jesuit Invitational with two wins.
 
The Ramblers improve to 4-0-2 overall.
 
"It was a great holiday weekend here in Omaha. We want to thank everyone who made this Jesuit Invitational possible," said head coach Kevin Robson. "I'm really proud of the guys for finding a way to win against a talented Gonzaga team. The back line of Roe, Firs, Bailey, Webb and Ionita were tremendous today.  We're looking forward to being back home on Thursday!"
 
How It Happened
Loyola outshot Gonzaga in the first half, 8-6. Ivancic took the first shot barely four minutes in, while Jack McFeely put the first on goal in the 14th minute. The Ramblers made the Zags save five more attempts, including two back-to-back in the final five minutes by Arved von Vegesack.
 
The Zags put the pressure on Maxwell Ionita in goal in the second, forcing four saves before their goal. Ivancic took his penalty kick in the 84th minute for a 1-0 edge. Gonzaga had two off-target attempts in the final two minutes, and Loyola held on to win.
