Loyola Softball Inks Three Local Players During Early Period

Chicago (November 25, 2002) -Â First-year Loyola head coach Jamie Gillies announced the signing of three local standouts for the 2004 campaign. Raven Gengler, Tara Miller and Nora Schober each signed National Letters of Intent to attend Loyola University Chicago it was announced today.
"We are excited to be adding three players from a strong, local area pool of talent," Gillies said. "All three girls are athletic and have the ability to step in and make immediate contributions to our team in 2004."
Gengler, a catcher and infielder at Fenwick High School, is a versatile athlete, who has been a three-time all-conference selection. One of the Top 100 players in the area according to the Chicago Sun-Times, Gengler batted .315 in 2002 with three home runs and 13 RBI. She was stellar behind the plate, gunning down 13 of 24 would-be base stealers.
Lincoln-Way East High School outfielder Tara Miller helped lead her squad to the 2002 IHSA title, earning all-area honors along the way. As a junior, she batted .340 with eight doubles and 22 stolen bases en route to all-conference accolades.
Schober batted .309 as a junior at Stagg High School, earning all-conference and all-area honors.
