Detroit, Mich. - For the second time in two weeks, Katie Heidenreich scored in the dying moments, scoring in the 88th minute today to lead Loyola to a 1-0 win over Detroit this afternoon at Titan Field in Detroit, Mich. The Ramblers run their unbeaten streak to three (2-0-1) and push their season record to 7-4-2 (2-0-1 Horizon) while the Titans, fresh off a 7-0 win over Cleveland State, drop to 3-8 (1-1).

"Obviously, I am pleased to get the result, especially on the road," said head coach Frank Mateus. "We got off to a decent start and seemed to get better as the game went on. I have talked to the team about playing a full 90 minutes and this was about as close to doing that as we have come this year. I was happy that Katie was able to score after coming so close earlier in the half."

After a tight, and scoreless, opening 45 minutes, Loyola began to assert itself in the second half. Heidenreich had the best chance of the match in the 67th minute, getting behind the Titan backline and rounding the keeper, but saw her shot go just wide of the post. Mary Dale had two other quality chances in the next 20 minutes before Heidenreich, whose 82nd-minute goal gave LU a 1-0 win at DePaul two weeks ago, hit a rocket from 18 yards into the back of the net for her third goal of the year.

After an 8-6 edge in shots in the first half, the Ramblers outshot UDM 13-3 in the second period for a 21-9 advantage for the match. Senior keeper Emily Peick made six saves for her fourth shutout of the year.

Loyola wraps up its three-match road swing next Friday night when it takes on Cleveland State in its last Horizon League road contest of the season. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.
