Women's Golf Announces Two Signings

Nov. 20, 2012

CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago women's golf team is excited to announce the signing of Logan Willis and Natalie Meyers to National Letters of Intent during the past signing period. Both student athletes will be eligible to compete starting with the 2013-2014 season.

"We expect both Logan and Natalie to come in and challenge for top spots on our travel roster," commented coach Jason Calhoun. "They are both excellent students as well and I'm sure that they will push an already talented roster to new heights."

In both her freshman and sophomore years at Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus, Ohio, Natalie Meyers qualified for the state tournament with her team. As a junior, she participated in the Calloway Junior World Championships at Torrey Pines and earned co-medalist honors, firing a 74 at the district meet. She also qualified for the state tournament her senior year as an individual, earning Second-Team All-District honors along with being named team MVP.

"Natalie is a very talented player that will provide some great experience right out of the gate for our team," said Calhoun. "She is a very accurate driver of the ball and has a solid short game. Natalie also has tremendous poise. She keeps her emotions in check and will be a leader both on and off of the course from the start."

Logan Willis was a two-time MVP of the boys team from Kohler High School in Kohler, Wis. that won the 2011 WIAA State Title and finished in 3rd-place at the 2012 WIAA State Tournament. She has twice earned First-Team All-Conference and First-Team All-Area honors. Willis has received recognition on the All-State Team three times, including an appearance on the second team last season. Outside of high school completion, she has several WPGA Junior Tour and Players Tour Victories to her credit. Logan is also an accomplished hockey player, having played AAA hockey for the past five years.

"Logan comes in as one of the most well rounded athletes that the Loyola women's golf team has had on its roster since the program started," continued Calhoun. "Logan was a standout in both hockey and golf and with that competitive background she brings a new level of toughness that is hard to teach. Her experience playing on the boys team in high school will allow her to come right in and play at the collegiate yardage with very little adjustments."

The Ramblers will kick off their spring schedule when they compete in a dual match with Charleston Southern at Kiawah Island, S.C. on March 1st, 2013.
