EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Devyn Jambga found the back of the net four minutes into the first overtime to seal a 1-0 victory for SIU-Edwardsville (SIUE) over the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team this evening at Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. The win, which sees SIUE claim the Valley's regular season title, moves the Cougars to 12-3-1 overall (5-1-0 MVC), while the Ramblers see their eight-game unbeaten run come to an end as they fall to 9-4-4 (2-2-2 MVC).

Both starting goalkeepers were put to the test early on a chilly night in Edwardsville. Senior Tim Dobrowolski denied Jacob Wieser's try in the third minute of play before sophomore Elliot Collier forced a stop out of Kyle Dal Santo, the SIUE netminder, in the early stages of the 13th minute.

Following the early shots on target, defense began to take over as the half rolled on, with opportunities at a premium. The hosts cleared away a pair of Rambler corner kicks in the 25th and 26th minutes, respectively. Collier and SIUE's Keegan McHugh each fired wide of goal inside the final ten minutes of the opening stanza as the two in-state rivals headed to halftime in a scoreless deadlock.

The second half saw a handful of chances fall both ways. Dobrowolski notched his second save of the night in the 59th minute, denying Mohamed Awad's attempt. The Rockford, Ill. product was busy again inside the final quarter of an hour of regulation, turning away Jabari Danzi and Austin Ledbetter in rapid succession as time began to tick away.

A foul in the penalty area in the 86th minute presented Loyola with a golden opportunity to score a late winner. It was for naught though, as Dal Santo turned away sophomore Kyle Thomson's penalty kick to keep the Ramblers off the scoreboard. Dal Santo came up with his final save of regulation just over two minutes later, parrying away Collier's shot, to send the game into overtime.

Jambga cashed in only four minutes into the first extra session. Danzi found space, eventually feeding a ball to Jambga that found its way past Dobrowoslki. Jambga slotted his attempt into the back of the net to claim all three points for the Cougars in the conference standings and condemned the Ramblers to their first defeat since Sept. 25.

Tonight's result sees Loyola close the season in fifth place in the final conference table. The Ramblers will open play at the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championship as the five seed and will take on fourth-seeded Missouri State in Wednesday's second quarterfinal round game. Kickoff from Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. is set for 3 p.m.
