In Short...
No. 12 Loyola outhit Quincy .427 to .255 en route to the Ramblers completing the season sweep of the Hawks on Saturday night. Four Ramblers recorded double-digit kills in the victory, led by a career-high 20 from Ben Plaisted, while Loyola tallied double-digit blocks for the third consecutive contest.

How It Happened
After trading points to open set one, Trevor Novotny, Ben Plaisted and Nicholas Olson combined for four consecutive blocks to put Loyola on top, 9-7. The Ramblers continued to rally, eventually upping the score to 18-12 on back-to-back kills from Novotny and Plaisted, and held on to take set one, 25-16. Loyola went the entire first set without committing a single error to post a .500 hitting clip. In addition, the Ramblers tallied 7.5 blocks in the first set to hold Quincy to a mere .125.

The two teams swapped sideouts to begin the second set until Loyola scored five unanswered points, including kills from Plaisted and Will Tischler and a service ace from Olson, to go on top, 13-8. The Hawks then rallied to score six of the next nine points and cut the deficit to two, and the teams continued to battle back-and-forth until the set was tied at 23-23. A Jendryk kill gave Loyola set point, but Quincy scored four of the next five to end it, 27-25. Despite Loyola tallying four more kills than Quincy, the second set marked the only frame that the Hawks outhit the Ramblers.

In a back-and-forth third set that saw 13 tie scores and seven lead changes, neither team managed to lead by more than two points until Loyola put together a four-point run, led by kills from Plaisted, Tischler and Jendryk, to take a 22-19 lead. The Ramblers held on to the lead behind kills from Jendryk and Novotny before Jendryk combined with Peter Hutz for a block to end the set, 25-21. Jendryk, Tischler and Plaisted carried the offense through the third set, as the trio combined for 13 of the team's 16 kills.

Loyola scored the first point of set four and never surrendered the lead. However, Quincy managed to stay close until the Ramblers scored three straight points, including back-to-back kills from Ben Plaisted and a Peter Hutz service ace, to up the score to 20-14. Loyola then went on to win the set behind kills from Novotny, Tischler, Plaisted and Jendryk. The Ramblers tallied 18 kills in set four to post a blazing .593 hitting clip, their highest of the match.
