Coach Moser's Thoughts
"I'm really proud of our guys. We hit a bump in the road, didn't hang our heads and played incredibly hard tonight. Against UNI, you have to share the ball and I thought we did a great job of that tonight. I'm really pleased with how Milton controlled the game and Donte can be a monster and is playing with a lot of confidence right now."
How It Happened
A 15-3 run early in the first half helped Loyola gain control of the contest and turn an 8-7 deficit into a 22-11 lead with 9:03 remaining in the period. Ingram played a key role in that pivotal run, draining back-to-back three-pointers to fuel the Rambler surge. Later in the period, a layup by Maurice Kirby put the Ramblers on top 39-21, for their largest lead of the half, and Loyola went into the break on top 39-26, thanks to a defense that limited Northern Iowa to 29 percent (7-for-24) shooting from the field.
Loyola went on to shoot 68 percent (13-for-19) in the second half and Bruno Skokna's three-pointer from the right corner with 13:16 remaining gave the hosts their largest lead of the night at 56-35.
UNI would not go away without a fight and quickly trimmed a 62-41 Loyola advantage down to 66-57 thanks to a 16-4 run over a five-minute span.
Ingram came up big, however, and stopped the Panthers' momentum with a layup and Doyle added another shortly thereafter to push the Loyola lead back to 70-57 and UNI would get no closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
