Steve Klosterman Named Women’s Volleyball Volunteer Assistant Coach

Former All-American has had successful club coaching career

CHICAGO (July 25, 2017) – Steve Klosterman has been added to the Loyola University Chicago women's volleyball staff as a volunteer assistant coach, Ramblers head coach Chris Muscat announced today. Klosterman comes to Rogers Park after serving as the head boys coach at Orangewood Academy in Garden Grove, California.

"Steve is a huge addition to our family," Muscat said. "He brings a wealth of new ideas and will be another component to challenging the ways we train to better each player and our program. We will rely on his experience as both an outstanding professional and collegiate player to help develop our very talented core group of players. Beyond what he brings as a coach, Steve is a perfect fit for the culture we are building at Loyola and I know that our student-athletes and coaches are looking forward to welcoming him into the 2017 season."

Klosterman has extensive experience as a club volleyball coach in California and also served as a volunteer assistant coach with the men's program at UCLA in 2008, where he was responsible for scouting and running the scout team.

A standout player at UCLA, Klosterman was a two-time All-American and helped the Bruins to the NCAA championship in 2006, when he was named Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament.

Following his collegiate career, the Long Beach, California native went on to play professional volleyball overseas from 2007-15 and was named Most Valuable Player in the Naranjito League in Puerto Rico after helping the club to a league championship.

Klosterman joins a Loyola program that advanced to the MVC Tournament a year ago and matched a school record with nine Missouri Valley Conference wins. The Ramblers open the 2017 season against Seattle at the Cal Molten Classic on August 25.
