CHICAGO (November 28, 2018) – The accolades for Loyola University Chicago men's basketball players Clayton Custer (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest/Iowa State) and Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) continue to come in. Both Ramblers have been named to the Lou Henson Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List, while Custer also finds himself on the Lute Olson Player of the Year Watch List. Custer, the 2018 Lou Henson Player of the Year Award winner, averaged 13.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game last season on his way to claiming Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America recognition as Loyola made an historic run to the Final Four. The 6-foot-1 redshirt senior point guard was a catalyst for last year's club, leading the Ramblers to a 30-3 record when he was in the lineup.
 
Krutwig put together a fantastic rookie campaign in 2017-18, during which he was tabbed MVC Freshman of the Year and earned third team all-conference accolades. The 6-foot-9 center, who is also on the 2019 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award Watch List, showed the poise of a seasoned veteran as a freshman last season, contributing 10.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg and 1.7 apg.
 
With a spot on the Lute Olson Player of the Year Award Watch List, Custer is in the company of the top players in the country. The Lute Olson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I college basketball player, and incoming freshmen and transfers are not eligible for the award. 
 
Loyola is back in action Saturday when it travels across town to face city rival UIC at 3 p.m.
