CHICAGO (November 8, 2018)
- Loyola brings an eight-game winning streak at Gentile Arena into Friday night's showdown with Furman, a team it is meeting for the first time since 2012. The Ramblers are looking to start a season with consecutive wins for the fifth straight year and the sixth time in eight campaigns under head coach Porter Moser. Strong starts are nothing new to Loyola under Moser and the Ramblers boast a 22-7 record in November since the start of the 2014-15 season. Loyola has won 14 of its last 17 contests in the opening month of the season and has not lost a game on its home floor in November since November 14, 2008, when it fell to Rockhurst, 86-79. The Ramblers have won their last 16 nonconference home games since a 60-54 loss to Cleveland State on December 16, 2015.

Loyola – Furman – The Series

Loyola and Furman are meeting for the third time in a series that traces its roots to 2011. This is the first time the teams are locking horns since December 1, 2012. The last time the teams met, Devon Turk scored a team-high 19 points to spark the Ramblers to a 77-50 victory at Gentile Arena. Loyola sealed the game's outcome by scoring 20 unanswered points early in the second half to coast to the win.

Loyola is 2-2 all-time versus current members of the Southern Conference and last season knocked off Samford, 88-67, at Gentile Arena. Head coach Porter Moser is 1-1 all-time against Furman.

Scouting Furman

Behind 24 points from Matt Rafferty and 23 from Jordan Lyons, Furman coasted to a 102-48 season-opening win over Bob Jones Tuesday night. The Paladins committed just three turnovers, hit 13 three-pointers, and shot 55.9 percent (38-for-68) from the field. Dating back to last season, the Paladins have emerged victorious in eight of their last nine contests overall and have won four of their last five true road games.

A year ago, Furman posted a 23-10 overall record and one of its setbacks was a hard-fought 66-61 decision at Tennessee, which Loyola defeated in the NCAA tourney, 63-62.
