CHICAGO (February 7, 2018) - One of the hottest teams in the nation, Loyola brings a five-match winning streak into its Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) opener on Friday versus Quincy. The Ramblers have prevailed in 10 of their last 12 matches at Gentile Arena, including each of their last five, and moved up one spot to No. 6, their highest ranking of the season, in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I-II Poll. Loyola has posted a 5-2 record against nationally ranked teams already matching its win total versus Top 15 teams from a year ago (5).Â

Senior
Ricky Gevis is rounding into form after missing most of last season with a shoulder injury. The 6-foot-10 opposite has tallied double-digit kills in each of the last three matches and over that stretch is contributing 3.00 kills, 1.17 digs and 0.75 blocks per set, while hitting .354 (36-8-79). In his last appearance versus Quincy, on February 6, 2016, Gevis recorded 15 kills and a career-best 15 digs.Â

Scouting Quincy
Quincy has won six of its last seven outings and carries a three-match winning streak into Friday's showdown with Loyola. The Hawks are 1-1 in true road matches this season, capturing a three-set decision over Culver Stockton on January 31. Senior outside hitter Anthony Winter leads Quincy with 3.36 kills per set and is hitting .364 (111-24-239).

Friday's contest is the 52nd meeting between the Ramblers and Hawks and Loyola has dominated the all-time series, winning 47 of the previous 51 encounters. Loyola is 29-1 all-time at home against Quincy and has won 18 straight overall from the Hawks. The Ramblers' lone loss in Chicago came all the way back on January 29, 2000.Â

Scouting Lindenwood
After winning its first three outings of the year, Lindenwood has played .500 volleyball, going 3-3. The Lions have already played a pair of MIVA matches, falling at McKendree before knocking off Quincy. This season, Lindenwood is 1-1 in true road matches, winning its last contest away from home, a 3-1 decision over Sacred Heart on January 26.

Loyola has had the upper hand in the all-time series with Lindenwood, winning 17 of the 18 meetings between the programs. However, in the last matchup between the teams, the Lions earned their first-ever win over the Ramblers with a four-set victory in St. Charles, Missouri last March. Loyola is 13-0 against Lindenwood when playing in the Windy City and the Ramblers have only dropped five sets all-time to the Lions in Rogers Park.
