Tylka Adds Two More to 2019 Roster

CHICAGO (August 16, 2018) - Head Coach Jeff Tylka announced the additions of Stephanie Campos (Bloomingdale, Ill.) and Jessica Shields (Algonquin, Ill.), giving the team a total of six newcomers for the 2019 season. Campos transfers from Bradley University, while Shields most recently played for University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Each player has two years of NCAA softball eligibility here in Rogers Park.

Campos is a right handed-hitting third baseman that is familiar with Missouri Valley competition. The Bloomingdale, Ill. native saw action in 52 games for Bradley in 2017, starting in 51 of them. She posted four doubles, one triple and one home run, complementing her body of work with 12 RBI and a stolen base. Her hard work in the classroom earned her a spot on the the MVC honor roll for the 2017 season. She is also a two-time NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete.

"Stephanie is a hard working player who has already competed at the Missouri Valley Conference level," Tylka said. "The experience she has will allow her to add some leadership and depth to our current roster."

Shields put up impressive numbers for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside during her two years with the program. The left handed-hitting outfielder started in all 48 games for the Rangers last season and was named to the All-GLVC Third Team. She finished first among her teammates in average (.323), on-base percentage (.398) at-bats (161), runs (35), hits (52), walks (18) and stolen bases (38). Her 38 stolen bases was good for 13th in the DII leader board, and she also finished second on the team in OPS (.752), triples (2) and total bases (57).

"Jess is a phenomenal person with a great work ethic that will help us in a variety of ways," Tylka said. "Her experience and leadership will be an attribute to our current group. I'm excited to see what she can bring to our program in the community, classroom, weight room and on the softball field."
