CHICAGO (September 5, 2018) – The Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team opens up a stretch that will see it play four of its next five games on the road this Thursday as it makes the short trip south to Lincoln Park to take on DePaul in a 4 p.m. tilt at Wish Field.
Last Time Out: Loyola split a pair of home games last weekend, blanking Purdue Fort Wayne, 4-0, this past Friday before dropping a 2-0 decision to No. 14/13 Oklahoma State on Sunday.
Aleksa Tataryn,
Abby Swanson,
Jenna Szczesny and
Claire Oberle each found the back of the net in the win over the Mastodons, while
Kate Moran earned her first career shutout in goal. Goalkeeper
Maddie Hausmann made her collegiate debut during the second half of Loyola's clash with the Cowgirls, making three saves.
vs. DePaul: DePaul brings a record of 3-2-0 into Thursday's matchup with Loyola. The Blue Demons saw a three-game win streak snapped in their most recent outing at Milwaukee, as they fell to the Panthers by a final count of 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. Franny Cerny netted DePaul's lone goal in the contest. Head coach Erin Chastain's team has been led by the pairing of Cerny and Morgan Turner early on this season. Both members of the duo have scored four goals to pace a DePaul offensive attack that averages 2.60 goals per game. Mollie Eriksson has started in all five games in goal this season and sports a 1.11 goals against average and a 0.722 save percentage.
Series Stuff: Loyola and DePaul will meet for the 18th time on Thursday afternoon as part of a series that dates back to a 3-2 Rambler win during the 1996 season. The Ramblers currently hold a 9-7-1 edge in the previous 17 matchups. Loyola snapped a four-match winless run against its neighbors to the south last season, with goals from Szczesny and
Emily Lange carrying the Maroon & Gold to a 2-0 victory back on September 17, 2017 at Loyola Soccer Park. The Ramblers will be in search of their first win at Wish Field on Thursday since a 1-0 blanking of the Blue Demons during the 2012 campaign.
Up Next: Loyola heads to Madison, Wis. on Sunday to take on Wisconsin. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. from the McClimon Soccer Complex.
