Aleksa Tataryn (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) was tabbed the MVC Offensive Player of the week, while graduate student
Simone Wark (Whitby, Ontario, Canada/Bill Crothers Secondary/South Carolina) repeated as the league's Newcomer of the Week.
Tataryn, who is receiving the first weekly league honor of her career, provided the deciding strike in Loyola's 2-1 win over Indiana State on Saturday night. The Plymouth, Minn. native found the back of the net in the 27
th minute, recording her team-high seventh goal of the season, to help the Maroon & Gold wrap up a share of their second MVC regular season title in as many years.
Now a three-time Valley Newcomer of the Week honoree, Wark provided the vital assist on Tataryn's game-winning tally. Out of Whitby, Ontario, Canada, Wark currently resides in the top five in the conference in overall points (T-4
th; 13), goals (T-4
th; 5), and assists (T-3
rd; 4).
Winners of its last nine games, Loyola looks to complete a perfect MVC campaign on Thursday when it takes on Evansville in the regular season finale for both teams. Kickoff from Arad McCutchan Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
