CHICAGO (December 23, 2019) – Loyola University Chicago junior
Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) has been named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week it was announced today. The 6-foot-9 center is the first Rambler to take home MVC Player of the Week accolades this season.
Â
Krutwig had another solid week, averaging 15.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.5 assists, while shooting 55.6 percent (10-for-18) from the field, in a pair of games last week for Loyola.Â
Â
The 2019-20 MVC Preseason Player of the Year became the first Valley post player since 1989 to record a triple-double when he notched 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 78-70 victory over Vanderbilt for Loyola's third win over a SEC opponent in as many seasons. The triple-double is also believed to be the first in Loyola history. He is also one of only two centers to have posted a triple-double this season (Luke Knapke of Toledo is the other).
Â
Krutwig then delivered eight points, 11 rebounds and three assists in a 59-56 loss to Davidson December 22.Â
Â
One of only 23 players in Loyola history to rack up over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds, Krutwig ranks 34th in program annals with 1,113 points. For the year, 6-foot-9 center is putting up 16.2 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 4.7 apg and 1.2 spg, and hitting 61.9 percent (83-for-134) of his field goal tries.

Loyola (8-5) opens Missouri Valley Conference action December 30 when it travels to Valparaiso.
