CHICAGO (December 5, 2019) – Bruno Skokna, a senior guard on the Loyola University Chicago men's basketball team, is featured in this week's Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight.
Â
This season, the 6-foot-4 guard is contributing 1.6 points and 1.0 rebounds per game in a reserve role for the 5-4 Ramblers, who are back in action Saturday when they host Quincy. With the Zagreb, Croatia native on the roster, the Ramblers have racked up 75 wins in the past three-plus seasons, winning back-to-back MVC regular-season titles and earning consecutive postseason berths.
Â
In the classroom, Skokna is an exceptional student and last year was a MVC Scholar-Athlete Team Honorable Mention selection. In 2017-18, he was the recipient of the MVC's Elite 18 award for having the highest grade-point average among student-athletes in the conference tournament championship.
Â
In addition to his academic and athletics accomplishments, Skokna has been active in the Loyola community, volunteering at Misericordia Heart of Mercy.
Â
To qualify for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to academic qualifications, student-athletes are evaluated on their campus involvement and community service.
