CHICAGO (February 11, 2019) -
After playing two-thirds of the Missouri Valley Conference schedule, Loyola finally gets its first look at longtime rival Bradley when it travels to Peoria Wednesday evening. The Ramblers have won four of their last five games overall and 10 of its last 14 MVC road outings. Loyola, which has never won back-to-back regular-season league titles, is trying to post a second straight 20-win season for the first time since 1983-84 (20) and 1984-85 (27).

Loyola – Bradley – The Series

Longtime foes Loyola and Bradley are meeting for the 61st time in a series that traces it roots to 1928. The Braves hold a 34-26 advantage in the all-time series, but the Ramblers have claimed nine of the last 11 and six of the last seven, meetings. A year ago, the clubs split the regular-season series, with the home team winning each contest.

In the last showdown between the programs, Loyola led by as many as 14 points and held on for a 62-54 victory in the MVC Championship semifinal round last March. Clayton Custer and Marques Townes scored 12 points apiece in that game. When the teams connected in Peoria last season, the Braves held off a late Ramblers rally to escape with a 69-67 victory, despite 23 points from Clayton Custer. That loss was Loyola's last before embarking on a 14-game winning streak that ultimately was snapped with a setback versus Michigan in the NCAA Final Four.

Since joining The Valley, Loyola is 9-4 against Bradley. The Ramblers are 8-22 all-time in Peoria, but have won five of the last seven games at Carver Arena.

Scouting Bradley

After dropping its first five Valley contests, Bradley has rebounded to win five of the last seven league games, including each of the last two. The Braves are just 7-6 at home this season and 2-4 in conference play, but have claimed two of their last three outings at Carver Arena.

Junior guard Darrell Brown is one of the hottest players in The Valley and leads the Braves with 15.1 ppg and 3.0 apg. Over the last two outings, he is averaging 27.5 ppg and shooting 60.6 percent (20-for-33) from the field and 73.3 percent (11-for-15) from three-point land.

Loyola looks to maintain its home-court win streak Sunday when it hosts Missouri State at 3 p.m. That game is sold out and will be televised live on ESPNU.
