CHICAGO (January 9, 2020) – Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs), a junior on the Loyola University Chicago men's basketball team, has been named to the 2019-20 Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List it was announced today. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually by CollegeInsider.com to the nation's top NCAA Division I mid-major player.
Krutwig, a 6-foot-9 center, is one of five Missouri Valley Conference players on the list. His former teammate, guard
Clayton Custer, took home the award in 2017-18 after helping lead the Ramblers on a magical run to the NCAA Final Four.
This season, Krutwig is putting up incredible numbers, averaging team highs of 16.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 0.9 blocks, while adding 1.4 steals per game and shooting 58.8 percent from the field. He has recorded five double-doubles this year, including the first-ever triple-double in Loyola history when he went for 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a victory over Vanderbilt. He is currently the only Valley player to be averaging at least 16.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg and 4.0 apg this season.
One of only 23 players in Loyola annals to accumulate over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career, Krutwig was tabbed 2019-20 MVC Preseason Player of the Year after finishing third in the voting for the MVC Player of the Year award in 2018-19.
The 2019-20 Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award will be announced in April in Atlanta, the site of the 2020 NCAA Final Four.
Krutwig and his Loyola mates host Evansville Saturday at 3 p.m. CT.
