CHICAGO (December 10, 2020) – In a season that has provided plenty of twists, turns and adjustments, Loyola University Chicago head men's basketball coach
Porter Moser announced today that the Ramblers have added a game to their 2020-21 schedule. Loyola will take on Duquesne in front of no fans in Indianapolis on December 16 at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Tip-off is slated for noon CT and additional details will be announced as they become available.
Loyola and Duquesne will be meeting for the first time in nearly 30 years, since February 18, 1993, when the teams were both members of the Midwestern Collegiate Conference. Although the Dukes possess an 11-6 edge in the all-time series, which dates back to 1930, the Ramblers have won four of the last seven matchups. Prior to the 1992-93 campaign, the only season in which the schools were members of the same league, the Ramblers and Dukes had not faced one another since 1962.
Through games of December 9, Duquesne had split its first two contests of 2020-21, falling to Little Rock (76-66) before taking down UNC Greensboro (81-68). Picked to finish fifth in the rugged Atlantic 10 Conference race this season, the Dukes went 21-9 in 2019-20.
Moser and the Ramblers are off to their first 2-0 start since capturing the hearts of the nation with a run to the NCAA Final Four in 2017-18. Loyola has opened the 2020-21 campaign with home wins over local rivals Lewis (76-48) and Chicago State (88-51) and plays its first road game of the season Sunday (Dec. 13) when it visits UIC.
