Loyola Men’s Basketball Adds Game Versus No. 19 Richmond To Schedule

Ramblers and Spiders will meet December 18 in Indianapolis

CHICAGO (December 12, 2020) – Loyola University Chicago men's basketball head coach has announced that the Ramblers have added a game versus No. 19 University of Richmond to their 2020-21 schedule. The teams, who will be meeting for just the second time, will face off Friday, Dec. 18 in front of no fans at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Tip time and broadcast information is still to be determined.

Due to positive COVID-19 tests within the Duquesne program, Loyola had a scheduled game versus the Dukes in Indianapolis on December 16 canceled earlier today.

The Ramblers and Spiders met just two seasons ago, on November 19, 2018, at the Fort Myers Tip-Off in Fort Myers, Fla. Loyola pulled away in the second half, shooting a scorching 71.4 percent (20-for-28) from the field in the period, to earn an 82-66 victory. Lucas Williamson scored a game-high 23 points to pace a cast of four double-digit scorers for the Ramblers.

Richmond, which battles 11th-ranked West Virginia tomorrow, is 4-0 this season and has victories over No. 10 Kentucky (76-64) and Northern Iowa (78-68) under its belt. Five Spiders average double figures in scoring, led by forward Grant Golden, who contributes 15.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Head coach Chris Mooney's squad also features one of the top guards in the country in Jacob Gilyard, who puts up 12.3 ppg and 7.0 apg.

Loyola has won its first two outings of the 2020-21 season and visits crosstown rival UIC tomorrow (Dec. 13) at 1 p.m.
