Krutwig Named MVC Player Of The Week

Senior center averaged 22.0 points in a pair of Ramblers victories

CHICAGO (December 14, 2020) – Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs), a senior center at Loyola University Chicago, has been named Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week it was announced today. The 6-foot-9 big man averaged 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocks per game to help the Ramblers to a pair of wins last week as they improved to 3-0 on the year.

The two-time First Team All-MVC selection opened the week by narrowly missing out on his 17th career double-double, finishing with 22 points and nine rebounds, to go with two assists and a pair of blocked shots, in an 88-51 victory over Chicago State on December 9, doing all of that damage in only 24 minutes of action.

Krutwig then poured in 22 points and pitched in four boards, two assists, a block and a steal, to key a 77-66 victory at UIC yesterday. With the win, the Ramblers extended their win streak against the Flames to eight games.

For the year, Krutwig is contributing 17.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.3 apg and 2.0 bpg and converting 66.7 percent (22-for-33) of his field goal attempts. One of the most accomplished big men to ever wear the Maroon and Gold, he is one of only six players in Loyola history to have racked up at least 1,400 points and 700 rebounds in his career.

Loyola (3-0) is back in action tomorrow night when it visits No. 13 Wisconsin at 7 p.m.
