Loyola Men’s Basketball Adds Game Versus North Texas To Schedule

Ramblers and Mean Green will battle at Gentile Arena this Saturday (Jan. 2)

CHICAGO (December 31, 2020) – Following yesterday's announcement of the postponement of its two-game series at Bradley, which was scheduled for January 3 and 4, Loyola University Chicago head men's basketball coach Porter Moser announced today that the Ramblers have added a nonconference game to their 2020-21 schedule.

Loyola will host North Texas on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Gentile Arena. The game, which will be the first meeting between the teams, will be streamed live on ESPN+ and audio is available via the Rambler Radio Network at LoyolaRamblers.com.

Like Loyola, North Texas, which sports a 4-3 overall record, has won its last three outings heading into Saturday's game in Rogers Park. A member of Conference USA, the Mean Green has posted three consecutive 20-win seasons under fourth-year head coach Grant McCasland and last year claimed the C-USA regular-season title.

Seven players are contributing at least 8.0 points per game for North Texas in 2020-21, led by redshirt senior guard Javion Hamlet who is accounting for 12.1 ppg and a team-best 6.3 assists per outing.

Loyola (6-2, 2-0 MVC), which has won its last three outings overall, brings a 14-game win streak at Gentile Arena into this non-conference showdown. Led by senior center Cameron Krutwig, who is recording 17.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg 2.6 apg and 1.6 bpg, the Ramblers boast nine players with scoring averages of at least 5.4 ppg.

Following Saturday's game against North Texas, Loyola is scheduled to visit Missouri Valley Conference co-leader Drake (11-0, 2-0 MVC) January 10 and 11 in Des Moines, Iowa.
