CHICAGO (November 1, 2021) – The Loyola University Chicago Athletics Department is mourning the passing of former men's basketball player and benefactor John Crnokrak, who passed away October 27 at the age of 81.
Crnokrak played for the Ramblers from 1959-62 and is a member of the Loyola Athletics Hall of Fame. During his sophomore season, Crnokrak ranked second on the team in total rebounds.
"We are saddened to learn of John's passing," Loyola Director of Athletics
Steve Watson said. "Crno was the epitome of what it means to be a Rambler and we will miss seeing him at games and events on campus. We extend our condolences to his wife, Kathy, and family."
A co-captain of the 1961-62 Loyola squad, after his eligibility expired, Crnokrak was drafted by both the Chicago Bears and Houston Oilers before signing with the Oilers.
