CHICAGO (February 22, 2021) – Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) from the Loyola University Chicago men's basketball team, has been selected as one of 10 finalists for the 2020-21 Men's Basketball Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be classified as NCAA Division I seniors and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Krutwig, a 6-foot-9 senior center, is joined on the list of finalists by Manny Camper (Siena), Ross Cummings (Mercer), Cam Davis (Navy), Marcus Garrett (Kansas), Luka Garza (Iowa), Colin Gillespie (Villanova), Corey Kispert (Gonzaga), Justin Turner (Bowling Green) and Oscar da Silva (Stanford).Â

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athletes and encourages students to use their athletic platforms to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 30 men's candidates and 30 women's candidates announced earlier in the season. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at theÂ
Senior Class Award websitethrough March 22. Fan votes will be combined with those of the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winners. The Senior CLASS Award recipients will be announced during the 2021 NCAA Men's Final Four and NCAA Women's Final Four.Â

One of the greatest players to wear the Maroon and Gold, Krutwig is having a sensational senior season and leads the Ramblers, who are ranked No. 21 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll, with 15.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 assists per game. The only player in Loyola history to rank in the program's top 10 in points (1,713), rebounds (882) and assists (349), he also is one of only four players in the storied history of the Missouri Valley Conference to have 1,500 career points, 800 career rebounds and 300 career assists, joining Oscar Robertson (Cincinnati), Larry Bird (Indiana State) and Hersey Hawkins (Bradley).

Off the court, Krutwig is a two-time MVC First Team Scholar-Athlete selection and last season earned CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District 5 honors.

Loyola (19-4, 14-2 MVC) closes out the regular season this weekend when it hosts Southern Illinois February 26 and 27.
