CHICAGO (February 8, 2021) – The Sunday, Feb. 14, game of the Loyola University Chicago versus Drake men's basketball series will be played at 2 p.m. CT and will air on ESPN2. The game was originally scheduled for a 5 p.m. CT window on ESPNU. The Saturday, Feb. 13, Loyola - Drake game will also air on ESPN2 and will be played at 11 a.m. CT. Clay Matvick and Kevin Lehman have the call for both highly anticipated games from Drake's Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
The first-place Ramblers are 17-3 (12-1 MVC) and completed a series sweep at home against visiting Evansville over the weekend. The Ramblers do not play until Saturday. Drake is coming off its first setback of the season and enters the week 18-1 (9-1 MVC) and has a Wednesday (Feb. 10) home game against Northern Iowa.
Off to its best start since 1965-66 and winner of 10 straight games, Loyola is ranked No. 22 in the latest Associated Press Men's Basketball Top 25 Poll which was revealed today. The Ramblers were last ranked in either the Associated Press or Coaches Poll in 2017-18, when they earned the No. 7 spot in the final Coaches Poll after posting a 32-6 record and making the program's first trip to the NCAA Final Four since 1963.
Loyola has not been ranked during the regular season since March 4, 1985, when it checked in at No. 16 in the Associated Press Poll. The Ramblers were last ranked in the AP Poll on March 11, 1985, taking a No. 14 ranking in the final AP Poll following a 27-win season in which they advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
Drake, meanwhile, was represented in last week's AP Top 25 poll (at No. 25) and is receiving votes in this week's poll.
