Loyola Checks In At No. 20 In AP Men’s Basketball Poll

Ramblers recently won third MVC title in four years

CHICAGO (March 1, 2021) – Over the weekend, Loyola University Chicago won its third Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship in the last four years and today, it checks in at No. 20, up one position, in the Associated Press Men's Basketball Top 25 Poll. The Ramblers stay positioned at No. 22 in this week's Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll.

Loyola has prevailed in 14 of its last 15 contests and with a pair of wins versus Southern Illinois last weekend extended it home-court winning streak to 22 games, the fifth-longest active streak in the nation. With Saturday's 65-58 overtime victory against the Salukis, the Ramblers set a program record for conference wins in a season (16). Loyola has won 20 or more games in four straight seasons for just the second time in program history and the first since the 1945-46 through 1948-49 campaigns.

The Ramblers (21-4, 16-2 MVC) will be the No. 1 seed at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship and will face the winner of the Bradley – Southern Illinois game at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 5 in St. Louis. The game will be televised live on NBC Sports Chicago, FOX Sports Midwest, FOX Sports Indiana and FOX Sports Kansas City. The game will be blacked out in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska on ESPN+.
