Timmy Crawford sits just two shots off the top of the individual leaderboard following the opening day of competition for the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team at the Bash at the Beach in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Ramblers turned in an opening-round 302 prior to the suspension of second-round play due to darkness. Loyola currently sits in eighth place, just eight shots out of a spot in the top five. UConn (281) holds the top spot on the team leaderboard, while the Huskies' Jared Nelson shares the individual lead with Jesus Montenegro (Jacksonville State) and Timothius Tirto Tamardi (Appalachian State) after all three members of the trio shot a four-under-par 68.

Crawford was terrific today at the Sun Golf and Beach Club (par 72; 6,800 yards). The Arlington Heights, Ill. product racked up a team-high four birdies as he carded a two-under-par 70 that has him as part of a four-way tie for eighth place. Fellow sophomore
Zach Walsh is six shots back of Crawford, tied for 32
nd at 76.

Justin LaFrance and
Devin Johnson each turned in first-round 78s to move into a tie for 40
th place. Senior
Ryan Magee is tied for 50
th place after shooting an 80.
