Cameron Krutwig Named AP Third Team All-America

Senior center was tabbed MVC Player of the Year earlier this month

CHICAGO (March 16, 2021) – Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs), a senior center on the Loyola University Chicago men's basketball team, has been named Third Team All-America by the Associated Press, it was announced today. The big man is the first Rambler to earn first, second or third team AP All-America honors since Alfredrick Hughes captured third team accolades in 1985.

One of the greatest players ever to don a Loyola jersey, the 6-foot-9 Krutwig is the only player in program history to rank in the school's top ten in points (1,790), rebounds (919) and assists (364) and he, along with basketball legends Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird and Hersey Hawkins, are the only players in Missouri Valley Conference history to record 1,500 points, 800 rebounds and 300 assists in their careers.

Krutwig has scored in double digits on 23 occasions this season and has recorded five doubles-doubles, four of which have come in the last 10 contests. At the MVC Championship earlier this month, he was tabbed Tournament Most Valuable Player after putting up 15.3 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 3.7 apg, 2.0 bpg and 1.0 spg in three games as the Ramblers rolled to the title and earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Along with teammate Lucas Williamson, Krutwig is the winningest player in school history over a four-year span, with 97 wins. In four seasons with the Ramblers, he has played a pivotal role in the team capturing three MVC regular season championships, two NCAA Tournament berths, including an unforgettable run to the Final Four in 2018, and a National Invitation Tournament (NIT) appearance.

Eighth-seeded Loyola (24-4, 16-2 MVC) will face No. 9 seed Georgia Tech in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday (March 19) at 3 p.m. CT on TBS.
