CHICAGO (March 30, 2021) – Following a terrific showing on the offensive end in two wins last week,
Megan Nemec (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew), a sophomore on the Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team, has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Nemec's recognition marks the second straight week that a Rambler has taken home The Valley's weekly offensive award, following fellow sophomore
Amanda Cassidy's recognition last Tuesday.
Out of Tinley Park, Ill., Nemec enjoyed a banner week as Loyola picked up a pair of dominant victories en route to clinching its third MVC regular season title in as many years. In last Wednesday's 5-1 road win over Indiana State, she tallied a goal and two assists. The dynamic 5-foot-3 forward/midfielder was back at it again on Sunday against Southern Illinois, adding two goals and two assists in a comprehensive 5-0 victory at Loyola Soccer Park.
Nemec, the reigning MVC Freshman of the Year, has three goals and a team-high six assists to her name this season. She currently sits atop The Valley's overall points leaderboard with 12.
Loyola, which will be the top seed in the upcoming MVC Women's Soccer Championship, wraps up the regular season portion of its 2021 spring schedule by hosting Evansville on Saturday, April 3 at 5 p.m.
