SPRINGBORO, Ohio (April 18, 2021) – The Loyola University Chicago men's golf team used an impressive second-round showing to move into a tie for 11
th place following the first day of action at the Wright State Invitational in Springboro, Ohio.

Loyola posted a 36-hole team total of 610 (310-300) at the par-71, 6,754-yard course at the Heatherwoode Golf Club that has it sitting just 10 shots out of a spot in the top five as part of a tightly-packed field. The Ramblers second-round 300 was the fifth lowest team round of the afternoon. Host Wright State (287-282=579) leads the race for the team title, while the Raiders' Austin Schoonmaker (70-67=137) sits atop the individual leaderboard.

Pacing the attack for the Maroon & Gold on the opening day of competition was senior
Ryan Magee. The Hawthorn Woods, Ill. product carded a four-over-par 75 during first round play before shaving three strokes off that mark in the afternoon, firing a two-over-par 72 that is just two strokes off his career low. Magee currently resides as part of a tie for ninth place with a two-round tally of 147 (75-72).

Senior
Devin Johnson turned in the top 18-hole round of the day for the Ramblers, shooting a second-round even-par 71 that has him tied for 25
th at 151 (80-71). Fellow senior
Justin LaFrance is two shots back of Johnson after compiling a 153 (77-76) to move into a tie for 38
th.

The sophomore pairing of
Zach Walsh and
Timmy Crawford rounded out the Rambler lineup on the day. Walsh is tied for 58
th with a 160 (78-82), while Crawford is part of a tie for 81
st at 168 (87-81).
