Krutwig, Hall Selected To I-AAA Scholar-Athlete Team

Krutwig earns award for second time in his career

CHICAGO (April 30, 2021) – Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) and Tate Hall (Greenfield, Ind./Greenfield-Central/Indianapolis) have been selected to the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (ADA) Scholar-Athlete Team, it was announced this week. This marks the second straight year Krutwig has earned the accolade, while Hall is being recognized for the first time in his career.

Basketball players from all Division I-AAA ADA member institutions are eligible for this award. Each of the nominees is required to maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 (4.00 scale) and have been a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials. Nominees must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games and have reached junior academic standing at their institution.

Krutwig closed out his career as one of the greatest players to ever put on the Loyola jersey. An Associated Press Third Team All-America selection in 2020-21, the 6-foot-9 center also became the third Rambler in four seasons to be recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year after averaging 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.1 steals per game and shooting 57.4 percent (191-for-333) from the field. He tallied seven double-doubles this season and was dominant in a NCAA Tournament Second Round victory over top-seeded Illinois, going for 19 points, 12 boards, five assists and four steals. In addition, Krutwig is the only player in Loyola history to rank in the school's top 10 in scoring (1,833), rebounds (944) and assists (373).

His success wasn't limited to the court, however. Krutwig, an entrepreneurship major, owns a 3.45 grade-point average and earlier this spring was tabbed MVC Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. A year ago, he was named CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District.

Hall, a Third Team All-MVC pick in 2019-20, his first season at Loyola after transferring from the University of Indianapolis, was a valuable weapon off the bench for the Ramblers after moving to a reserve role in mid-January. The 6-foor-6 redshirt senior contributed 6.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg and 1.8 apg this season and scored in double digits on nine occasions, including a season-high 24-point outburst in a victory over Northern Iowa on January 16 in his first career game off the bench.

Off the court, Hall carries a 3.83 GPA as he pursues his master's degree in business administration and is a two-time member of the MVC Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team, earning first team honors this season.

Loyola put together another unforgettable season in 2020-21, finishing at 26-5 overall and ranked No. 12 in the final Ferris Mowers Top 25 Coaches Poll, while winning a third MVC regular-season title in the last four years, and advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
