CHICAGO (May 27, 2021) – Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs), who wrapped up his collegiate playing career for the Loyola University Chicago men's basketball program in March, has been invited to participate in the Tampa Bay Pro Combine, June 3-5, at the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Complex in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
The newly created combine will showcase top draft prospects from around the nation who are looking to prove themselves in front of professional basketball scouts and executives. This three-day event will include more than 60 draft-eligible players and will feature drills, games, athletic testing and measurements.
Krutwig concluded his collegiate career this spring and leaves Loyola as one of the greatest players to ever don the Maroon and Gold. A four-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection and a three-time First Team All-MVC pick, the 6-foot-9 center became the first Rambler since 1985 to earn first, second or third team All-America recognition from the Associated Press when he captured third team honors in 2020-21.
The 2020-21 MVC Player of the Year averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.1 steals per game this season and was dominant in the Ramblers' NCAA Tournament victory over second-ranked and top-seeded Illinois, tallying 19 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals, while going head-to-head with Kofi Cockburn, the First Team All-American center from the Fighting Illini.
During his four-year collegiate career, Krutwig helped the Ramblers to 99 wins, three postseason berths, including two NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and a trip to the Final Four, as well as three MVC regular-season championships. He is the only player in program history to rank in the school's all-time top ten in points (1,833), rebounds (944) and assists (373). Off the court, he was also the epitome of the term "student-athlete," earning MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year status in 2020-21, while also being a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District 5 honoree.
Krutwig is looking to join a handful of his former Loyola teammates in having played at the professional level. Clayton Custer, Donte Ingram, Aundre Jackson, Ben Richardson, Carson Shanks and Marques Townes, who were all teammates with Krutwig at Loyola, have played professional basketball overseas. The big man is also attempting to become the first Rambler since Milton Doyle in 2017-18 to play in a NBA regular-season game.
