CHICAGO (August 25, 2021) – The Loyola University Chicago men's basketball program mourns the loss of Loyola Athletics Hall of Famer and former student-athlete Paul Sheedy, who passed away August 23 at the age of 83.
Sheedy played at Loyola from 1955-59 and to this day his 46-point performance in a 127-89 victory over John Carroll on February 28, 1959 remains the second-highest, single-game output in program history.
During his three-year career on the varsity team, the Chicago native scored 1,000 points, averaging 13.9 points per game for his career. His best season as a Rambler came during his senior campaign in 1958-59, when he contributed 18.4 ppg.
Sheedy is survived by his wife and four children.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 26 from 4-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Road in Lake Zurich. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Aug. 27 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 135 S. Buesching Road in Lake Zurich.
