Kathleen Simms clocked the second fastest 10,000m run time in program history to highlight a banner opening night of competition for the Loyola University Chicago track & field teams at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

Simms dazzled tonight inside Hilmer Lodge Stadium just outside of Los Angeles. The Louisville, Ky. native shaved nearly 30 seconds off her 10,000m run personal best, clocking a scintillating 33:43.12 to place sixth overall in the invitational section of the event. Simms' time, which unofficially puts her 12
th in the NCAA West Region, moves her behind only former Rambler great Gina Valgoi (33:07.80) on the program's all-time outdoor record board.

On the men's side of the 10,000m run, senior
Blake Buysse rocketed his way up to third all-time in program history. Out of Plymouth, Minn., Buysse ran well over a 40-second personal best, surging across in 29:22.49, the fastest time in the event by a Rambler since 2012.

Tarynn Cullings turned in a terrific showing of her own at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. The Medina, Ohio product checked in sixth in her heat of the 5,000m run, coming through in 16:42.74, a time that ranks 10
th all-time at Loyola and marks a 10-second improvement from Cullings' previous top effort that was set back on March 25 at the Raleigh Relays.
