Devin Johnson (Geneva, Ill./Aurora Christian) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, it was announced on Wednesday by the league office. This marks the second weekly league honor of his career.
Johnson impressed at the Redhawk Invitational on Tuesday at historic Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash. After seeing the event shortened to just 18 holes due to inclement weather on Monday, Johnson handed in an even-par 71. The Geneva, Ill., product birdied three of his final four holes to finish tied for third place, only two shots off the lead, as the Ramblers shared seventh in the team race.
Coming off a 2021 campaign that saw him become the first player in program history to claim individual medalist honors at the MVC Championship, Johnson has put together another terrific campaign with the Maroon & Gold, carding 10 rounds at even-par or better en route to a 72.6 stroke average that leads the Rambler roster and ranks in the top five in The Valley.
Loyola closes out the regular season portion of its schedule at the Boilermaker Invitational, April 9-10, in West Lafayette, Ind.
