CHICAGO (June 24, 2022) – Lucas Williamson (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young), who helped the Loyola University Chicago men's basketball team to 124 wins over the last five seasons, has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers.
Â
Williamson, a 6-foot-4 guard, put together a decorated career at Loyola, helping the program develop into a national power as it earned four postseason berths, including three trips to the NCAA Tournament, most notably a run to the Final Four in 2017-18 and Sweet 16 in 2020-21. The Chicago native graduated as Loyola's all-time winningest player with 124 victories and also was one of only 23 players in school history to rack up at least 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career.
Â
A two-time Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year selection, Williamson had his best all-around season in 2021-22 as a graduate student. The team captain helped the Ramblers win the MVC Championship for a second straight year and averaged 13.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game, while sinking 39 percent of his three-point field goal tries. He was a fixture in the lineup and concluded his career by starting 101 consecutive contests.
Â
Williamson scored in double digits on 24 occasions in 2021-22, 11 times topping the 20-point plateau. In the regular-season finale at Northern Iowa, he dropped in a career-best 29 points and one week later was the recipient of the Doug Elgin Most Outstanding Player of the MVC Championship after totaling 18 points and 10 rebounds in a victory over Drake in the title game.
Â
A three-time MVC All-Defensive Team selection in his career, Williamson was a First Team All-MVC pick in 2021-22 and a second team all-league honoree in 2020-21.
Â
Williamson is attempting to become the first Loyola product since Milton Doyle to play in a NBA game. Doyle, who graduated from Loyola in 2017, appeared in 10 games for the Brooklyn Nets during the 2017-18 season.
