Johnson, Crawford Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

Third time in four years that multiple Ramblers have been honored

CHICAGO (July 21, 2022) – In an announcement made by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Thursday, two members of the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team have been named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars. Graduate student Devin Johnson (Geneva, Ill./Aurora Christian) and junior Timmy Crawford (Arlington Heights, Ill./Saint Viator) were recognized for their accomplishments both on the course and in the classroom. This is the third time in four years that multiple Ramblers have earned recognition from the organization.

"Another year, another couple of Academic All-Americans for our program," said Loyola men's head coach Erik Hoops. "I could not be prouder of Devin and Timmy for not just what they have accomplished on the course, but in the classroom also. We take these honors with so much pride as it shows that we are not taking any shortcuts when it comes to our success. The classroom performance is just as vital to our success as our golf course success."

Johnson, currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration, makes his second appearance as an All-America Scholar after leading the team in scoring with an average of 73.4 strokes over 24 rounds. He shot a season low round of 67 at the Zach Johnson Invitational en route to a share of 11th place (71-67-76=214). A native of Geneva, Illinois, Johnson closes out a decorated collegiate career as a two time All Missouri Valley Conference honoree, highlighted by capturing individual medalist honors at the 2021 MVC Men's Golf Championship.

Crawford enjoyed his top season as a Rambler in 2021-22, sporting a 73.9 scoring average across a team high 27 rounds of action. The finance major was consistent throughout the year, firing six rounds at even-par or better. Out of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Crawford turned in the low 18-hole effort of the year for the maroon and golf at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, firing a 66 as he finished as part of a tie for 13th place (66-71-71=212).

Crawford is one of four letter-winners expected to return in 2022-23 as Loyola begins its first season as a member of the Atlantic 10 conference.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in there last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA.
