KETTERING, OHIO (October 17, 2023) – After 54-holes of play, the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team wrapped up the Dayton Flyer Invitational with a tenth-place finish.
The Ramblers combined to shoot a total of 293 strokes, putting the bow on a total of 881 (299-289-293) for the week. Marquette captured the team title with a twelve-under-par score of 840 (277-282-281) while Illinois individual
Timmy Crawford took the individual crown with a 197 (64-66-67).
"I kind of have a similar feeling as we did following Wisconsin," said head coach
Erik Hoops. "We need to find a way to bring some more intensity and focus into our opening rounds. We know we can compete at this level with the quality of teams we face if we can get those early rounds squared away."
Graduate student
Zach Walsh led the Ramblers overall, placing just outside of the top-10 with another under-par score today of 70. He finished his week with a 54-hole total of 212 (74-68-70), good for a 16
th place finish and a new 54-hole career-low.
"Zach continues to show some great signs of leadership," Hoops added after the round. "It's another fantastic week for him. He's making his way toward having a historic year for our program."
Placing behind Walsh was sophomore
Sebastian Kasun, who put together a total of 220 (71-72-77) strokes for a 43
rd place finish. Sophomore
Charlie Kulwin (T-57; 76-76-73=225) and redshirt-sophomore
Zach Mulhearn (T-63; 78-75-74=227) finished two strokes off on the leaderboard while sophomore
Ryan Walsh rounded out the leaderboard with a 231 (72
nd; 81-74-76). On the individual side, freshman
Jackson Overton placed in 66
th with a 228 (83-72-73).
The Ramblers will look ahead to the Pine Tree Intercollegiate, October 23-24, where they will attempt to close out the fall season on a high in Kennesaw, Georgia.
