KENNESAW, GA. (October 23, 2023) – After strong play by sophomore
Charlie Kulwin in his second round, the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team currently sits in sixth place to open the Pinetree Intercollegiate.
The Ramblers opened play with a score of 298 strokes in their first round before improving for a 292 in their second round. This gives them a combined score of 590 (298-292), one stroke behind Augusta (290-299=589) in fifth place.
Kulwin began the day with a 76 in his opening round before shaving 8 strokes off to card a career-low 68 in his second round. The Chicago, Ill., product was led by two birdies and an eagle on his back-nine to vault him into a tie for 7
th on the leaderboard with a 144 (76-68).
Close behind Kulwin was freshman
Jackson Overton, who opened the day with an even-par 72. He put forth his lowest 36-hole total yet with a 146 (72-74) to tie for 13
th. Two strokes behind him was sophomore
Sebastian Kasun, who took the last Rambler spot in the top-25 with a 148 (T-22; 73-75) while graduate student
Zach Walsh placed in 36
th with a 152 (77-75). Rounding out the leaderboard was redshirt sophomore
Zach Mulhearn, who carded matching 79s to place in 43
rdwith a 158 (79-79).
The Ramblers open their final round on Tuesday, with action beginning with a 7:00 a.m. (CT) start.
