CHICAGO (September 25, 2023) – After a solid final 18-holes, the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team climbed to a fifth-place finish at the Zach Johnson Invitational.

The Ramblers finished the event with a combines 869 (288-291-290) strokes, led by a 290 on their final day. Iowa State captured both team and individual titles, carding a score of 829 (272-276-281) while Luke Gutschewski came in with a score of 198 (65-67-66).

"I feel a lot better about how we performed out there today," said head coach
Erik Hoops. "It was considerably harder but we managed our games well today and made a lot fewer mistakes. It felt nice to shoot one of the lower rounds of the day. I think we learned a lot about ourselves this week."

Leading the Ramblers on the leaderboard was senior
Zach Walsh, who carded a 72 in his final round to tie for 12
th with a 213 (70-71-72). Close behind was sophomore
Sebastian Kasun, who set a new 54-hole low with a 215 (69-73-73) to place in 18
th. Claiming the Maroon & Gold's final spot in the top-25 was sophomore
Charlie Kulwin, utilizing a second-round 70 to take 23
rd place with a 218 (76-70-72). Sophomore
Ryan Walsh matched his first-round score with another 73 to come home with a 223 (T-35; 73-77-73), while sophomore
Dori Lee rounded out the leaderboard with a 229 (T-57; 77-77-75).

"We've got to clean up the mistakes in Wisconsin, but we'll be ready," Hoops added.

The Ramblers will be back in action on Sunday, as they take part in the Badger Invite, October 1-3, in Madison, Wisconsin.
