CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team breaks from Atlantic 10 play for a 7 p.m. meeting with Olivet Nazarene. The action from Loyola Soccer park will stream live on ESPN+ with Scott Sudikoff (PXP) and Loyola Hall of Famer, Jack Cannon (Commentary), on the broadcast.
KICKING OFF
- For the first times this season, the Ramblers are on a two-match win streak, having beaten VCU (Oct. 12) and La Salle (Oct. 19) most recently.
- LUC holds seven points in A-10 play and sit ninth in the conference standings. The top-8 teams earn a bid to the 2024 league tournament. Three points are awarded for A-10 wins while one is given for draws.
- Most recently, Loyola Chicago took down La Salle, 2-1, at Hoyne Field as the regular season winds down.
- Hugo Urdiales and Julian Cisneros scored for the Ramblers. Ben Bischof and Cisneros assisted on Urdiales' goal while Petar Janjic assisted Cisneros on the game-winner in the 80th minute.
- Prior to the win over La Salle, the Ramblers beat VCU, by the same score, on Oct. 12.
- The win was LUC's first-ever over VCU, having previously lost and tied the Rams since joining the Atlantic 10.
- Hugo Urdiales recorded the game-winner in the 83rd minute, scoring a free kick goal from 10 yards outside of the box.
- Thanks to scoring in Loyola past three matchups, Urdiales raked in his second-straight A-10 Rookie of the week honor Monday, Oct. 21. His season-total sits at three.
GLANCE AT OLIVET NAZARENE
- A part of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics), ONU holds a 7-4-2 overall record and a 4-2-2 mark in the CCAC (Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference).
- The Tigers most recently fell, 2-0, at Judson this past Saturday. Prior to the loss, Olivet Nazarene won back-to-back matches against Holy Cross and Saint Xavier.
- Philip Joergensen leads the team with seven goals. Nathan Schmidli and Kurodo Ihara follow with six and five, respectively. Joergensen and Ihara hold 16 points apiece.
- Mounir Azzam's 30 shots are a team-high while Schmidlis 17 shots on-target pace the squad.
- Keeper Leonard Bewig has a team-high 675 minutes defending the goal. He's racked up 27 saves and is 3-0 between the posts with his .675 save percentage.
- Jon Forsythe is the head coach of the Tigers.

- Last season, Loyola Chicago compiled an 8-2-5 overall record and was 4-1-3 in conference play.
- In its third season as part of the Atlantic 10, LUC looks to earn its first conference championship since 2019.
- The Ramblers return 16 student-athletes from the 2023 roster, including nine with starting experience under their belt.
- Along with their returners, the Ramblers added 13 key pieces to the 2024 roster, including 10 freshmen and three transfers.
- The Ramblers remain undefeated when scoring two or more goals, a streak that has been ongoing since Sept. 30, 2017.
- As of Oct. 21, Loyola Chicago has the 59th-toughest schedule in DI men's soccer based on the NCAA's database. LUC's schedule is the seventh-toughest in the A-10 based off the same database.
- New to the 2024 season, the clock will stop for substitutions during the final 15 minutes if the game is tied or if the leading team makes a substitution. Substitutions are allowed during any stoppage in play. Additionally, teams are now permitted six substitutions per game.
