Ramblers Celebrate Senior Day, Alumni Day in Home Finale vs. Dayton

Tip-off set for 2 p.m. CT on ESPN+

Tipping Off
The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball concludes its 2023-24 slate of home games this Sunday (Feb. 25) as it hosts Dayton inside Gentile Arena. The program will be honoring its class of six graduating seniors prior to tip, in addition to hosting a group of Loyola women's basketball alumnae at the game. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. CT on ESPN+ with Scott Sudikoff (PXP) and Christian Thomas (Commentary) calling the action.

  • Loyola will honor: Alyssa Fisher, Sitori Tanin, Emma Nolan, Sophia Nolan, Ali Berg, and Sam Galanopoulos. The Senior Day ceremony will take place on-court prior to the game with approximately 10 minutes on the pregame clock. 
  • The first 100 students in attendance will receive a free Rambler hair clip. Be sure to get to Gentile early to secure your clip!
  • Battling for seeding in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Tournament, the Ramblers ended a three-game skid this past Wednesday with a 64-52 win over Massachusetts at home.
  • Seeds 5-9 receive a first-round bye while seeds 1-4 receive a double-bye. Seeds 10-15 will kick off the action March 6 in the first round. Currently, Loyola is No. 8 in the conference standings - the league will use its standings to determine seeding.
  • In the win over UMass, Tanin led the way with 18 points and seven rebounds, nearly garnering a double-double. Six of her points came in the final quarter.
  • Berg was close behind with 16 points and three boards. She added two steals and an assist.
  • Galanopoulos collected 11 points, her 10th time logging double digits in the past 11 games.
  • Loyola Chicago finds strength in the second half of contests. This season, it has outscored its foes, 940-902, in the final two quarters and 10-5 in overtime.
  • Galanopoulos' 13.4 points per game ranks 11th-most in the league while Fisher's 13.3 are 10th-most. 
  • Galanopoulos also ranks No. 4 in the A-10's assists per game (4.2) and No. 3 in assist/turnover ratio (2.1). Additionally, her 45-percent clip from beyond the arc ranks No. 3.
  • Scoring on Tanin in the post is no easy task. She's averaging 1.4 blocks per game, the fourth-most in the league. Meanwhile, she brings down 6.3 rebounds per game, ranking 11th.
2023-24 Rambler Bites
  • Seven letterwinners return to the roster, including three starters. The Ramblers welcome six newcomers, including two freshman and four transfers.
  • In addition to new players, Loyola added assistant coach Simon Harris and assistant coach Jenna Rubino-McCormick to the program in the off-season.
  • Head coach Allison Guth is in her second season at the helm of Loyola. She enters her eighth year as a head coach after spending the first six seasons at Yale.
Scouting The Dayton Flyers
  • Head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her second season at the helm of the Flyers in 2023-24. She's guided her team to a 11-15 overall record and a 5-10 mark in A-10 play.
  • Dayton was originally scheduled to play Davidson at home on Feb. 21, but COVID-19 issues within Davidson's program forced a cancellation, giving Dayton a forfeit win.
  • In lieu of Davidson, Dayton scheduled DII Miami (Hamilton) on the 21st. The Flyers dismantled the Harriers, 112-45.
  • The Flyers sit No. 11 in the A-10's standings.
  • With a strong post presence, Dayton's front court grabs 40.1 rebounds per game, tying for the second-best mark in the conference.
  • Arianna Smith leads the A-10 as an individual with 11.0 rebounds per game.
All-Time Against Dayton
  • Loyola looks to win the home end of its two-game season series with Dayton, having narrowly lost, 69-64, at Dayton on Jan. 6 earlier this year.
  • In the loss, Loyola had a 62-61 edge with one minute left in regulation before the Flyers closed the game on an 8-2 run.
  • The Ramblers were led by Tanin's 13 points while Ali Berg was close behind with 12.
  • The Ramblers did work in the post, scoring 42 points in the paint while Dayton had 34.
  • Loyola trails, 15-9, in its all-time series with its former Midwestern Collegiate Conference foe.
  • The Ramblers will look to end its four-game skid against UD, having last beaten the Flyers on Dec. 6, 2006, in Dayton.
Last Time Out
The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team halted its three-game skid Wednesday night with a 64-52 win over Massachusetts inside Gentile Arena. Sitori Tanin scored 18 points, leading Loyola's offensive onslaught. Ali Berg and Sam Galanopoulos also scored in double-figures as Loyola picked up its 13th win of the season.
