SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (March 11, 2024) – Following a career-low three-under-par 69 from sophomore
Sebastian Kasun, the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team was able to improve their second-round score by twelve strokes following 36-holes at the Ross Collegiate in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
The Ramblers opened the day with a round of 305, before improving in their second round with a score of 293 strokes, good for a 36-hole total of 598 to place them in thirteenth. They currently sit one shot behind Eastern Michigan (301-296=597) who find themselves in twelfth place.
Kasun opened his day with a score of 76, but quickly changed things up in his second round. The sophomore rallied behind three birdies and an emphatic eagle on his final hole to come home with a three-under-par 69, placing in 16
th with a 36-hole score of 145.
One shot ahead of Kasun on the leaderboard was graduate student
Zach Walsh, who fired six birdies of his own in his second round to card a two-under-par 70. He currently sits in a share of 12
th place with a 144 (74-70). Sophomore
Ryan Walsh placed in 63
rd with a 152 (75-77) while sophomore
Charlie Kulwin sits in 83
rd with a 157 (80-77). Sophomore
Dori Lee rounded out the starting five with a 161 (80-81) while redshirt-sophomore
Zach Mulhearn is in 88
th with a 160 (79-81) as an individual.
The Ramblers are right back at it on Tuesday morning, with their final round opening with an 8:15 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.
