INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (April 2, 2024) – The Loyola University Chicago men's golf team had hoped to complete their final round of the Butler Spring Invitational on Tuesday morning, but due to inclement weather, play was cancelled for the day, shortening the tournament to thirty-six holes.
The Ramblers concluded their week with a two-round score of 579 (292-287), led by a 287 in their second round. Loyola concludes the tournament in twelfth place.
"I really wish we could have gotten back out there today after we felt we had a poor start," said head coach
Erik Hoops. "All year we've proven to really bring it for the final round and unfortunately we didn't have that opportunity. We'll regroup and be ready for our last few weeks."
Sophomore
Sebastian Kasun was the Ramblers' leading scorer, coming in 16
th with 140 strokes (73-67). Sophomores
Charlie Kulwin (T-43; 73-71) and
Ryan Walsh (T-54; 72-73) placed a stroke apart with scores of 144 and 145 respectively. Graduate student
Zach Walsh wrapped up his week with a 150 (T-91; 74-76) while freshman
Jackson Overton rounded out the lineup with a 151 (T-96;75-76). On the individual side, sophomore
Dori Lee placed in a share of 50
th with a 145 (75-70).
The Ramblers now turn their attention to the Illini Invitational, April 20-21, in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois.
