Former Loyola Soccer Star Marc Torrellas Signs Pro Contract with FC Naples

NAPLES, Fla. – Former Loyola University Chicago men's soccer student-athlete Marc Torrellas signed a professional contract to play for FC Naples, the USL League One club announced today. The Barcelona native played four seasons wearing the Maroon and Gold after transferring from Merrimack College in 2019.

Torrellas was a key asset for Loyola Chicago in 2022, starting all but one match and recording seven points with three goals and an assist. His season included a game-winning goal against Duquesne on Nov. 9, securing a spot in the A-10 Championship final. He logged 1,472 minutes, the fourth-most on the team, and had 15 of his 37 shots on-target for a 41-percent shots on-goal clip.

Torrellas concluded his Loyola Chicago career as one of the program's standout student-athletes in 2023. A leader in the midfield, he logged 1,281 minutes in his capstone season, the most of any non-defender on the team. He scored three goals, including a 30-yard strike against Dayton on Oct. 7 and a crucial goal in the A-10 Quarterfinal against the same opponent, finishing the season with nine points.

Torrellas earned numerous accolades during his time at Loyola Chicago. After his 2023 graduate student season, he was honored as a First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators and secured a place on the All-Atlantic 10 First Team.

After graduating from Loyola, Torrellas advanced his career in USL League Two, securing a place on the 2023 USL League Two Team of the Year while representing Chicago City SC. He followed up this achievement by earning another spot on the 2024 USL League Two Team of the Year with the Des Moines Menace.
