WASHINGTON - Loyola Chicago's James Lawrence has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Track Performer of the Week following his record-breaking performance at the Stanford Invitational.
On Friday night in Stanford, Calif., Lawrence ran 27:54.62 in the 10,000m, setting a new Loyola Chicago outdoor school record. He placed seventh in his heat and broke the previous record of 28:40.40, set by Chris Devaney in 2023, by 45.78 seconds. The time, which ranks seventh in the NCAA and first in the conference this season, was Lawrence's personal best.
The plaudit is the Charlottsville, Va., native's third of 2024-25.
Loyola Chicago is next in action April 16-19 at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Wheaton "Don Church" Twilight Meet.
