LA VERNE, Calif. – Loyola Chicago continued competition in California on Friday, posting several personal-best performances across both meets.
James Howell ran a personal-best 1:51.01 in the 800m at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., finishing seventh in his heat.
Loyola continued competition in the 5k invitational, where Roisin Treacy posted a time of 16:43.54. In the 5k open, Eileen Seebon led the Ramblers with a 16:47.85, followed by Angy Salado Fernandez (17:16.85) and Ali Gillooly (17:32.37).
In the men's 5k invite, Hayden Healey posted a time of 14:22.57.
At the Leopard Invitational in La Verne, Loyola opened action in the 1500m, where Jo Collins led the Ramblers with a personal-best 4:43.91 to place 10th overall. Lindsey Kiehl followed in 11th with a personal-best 4:44.15, while Priscilla Ravera placed 12th in 4:44.97. Claire Blotnik recorded a personal-best 4:49.35, and Frances Perry crossed in 4:52.41.
In the men's 5k, Francesco Benelli ran a 14:29.45 to take second overall.
Competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational concludes Saturday, with Loyola set to race in the men's and women's 1500m.
Loyola will also compete Saturday in Wheaton, Ill., at the Wheaton "Don Church" Twilight Meet.
