WASHINGTON, D.C. – Loyola Chicago softball's Haley Wallace and Alli Pawlowicz earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors for the first times in their careers, announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon. Wallace tabbed Second Team All-Conference while Pawlowicz claimed a spot on the All-Rookie team.
Hailing from Hanna City, Ill., the senior second baseman started all 51 games this season and led the Ramblers in hits (50), runs (32) and doubles (11) – all career bests. The 11 doubles ranked Wallace sixth in the conference. She averaged .329 at bat this spring, good for second on the team and another career high, and tied with Pawlowicz for the team-leading 23 RBI. Wallace recorded 12 multi-hit games in the regular season and had a season-high three RBI against Rhode Island (March 28); she's riding an 11-game hitting streak heading into the A-10 Championship.
Pawlowicz had a standout debut season with the Ramblers, making 46 starts in 50 games played. She leads the team in home runs and ranks fifth in the league with seven homers. The 5-foot-9 shortstop batted .240 this spring and tied for first in RBI (23) among the Ramblers. A native of Woodridge, Ill., Pawlowicz crushed a grand slam – only her third home run of the year – to seal the run-rule victory against Rhode Island and secure Loyola's first A-10 series sweep of the season.
The Ramblers take on the Fordham Rams in the first round of the A-10 Tournament tomorrow, Wednesday, May 7 at 1:30 p.m. CT.
